In August 2020, Daniel Cameron and Makenze Evans tied the knot in a private outdoor ceremony.

Cameron is the first African-American attorney general of Kentucky. 

He is also the first Republican to hold the office since 1944.

He went on to attend the University of Louisville and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science.

In 2011, he graduated from Brandeis School of Law with a Juris Doctor and shortly after got a clerkship position to serve as McConnell’s legal counsel.

Cameron ran for Attorney General in 2019 and defeated State Senator Wil Schroder in the primaries and was endorsed by President Trump.

In the general election, he defeated Democratic former Attorney General Greg Stumbo and assumed office in January of this year.

He presided over the Breonna Taylor case and ruled that the officers involved would not face charges for her death.

In early May 2023, Cameron filed his paperwork to launch a run for Kentucky governor.

On May 16, 2023, it was announced that he had won the Republican primary on Tuesday, becoming the first major-party Black nominee for governor in the state's history.

He went up against Democratic incumbent, Andy Beshear, in November.
